IRELAND’S TWO-POINT win over Australia last night attracted more viewers than any women’s Six Nations game this year.
The Rugby World Cup opener had an average audience of 191,300 or 17.45% of the available audience.
This compares favourably with this year’s Women’s Six Nations, where the highest average audience was 185,000 for the decider against England.
The dramatic nature of the game ensured an increase in viewership towards the end, with an audience peak of 322,300 for the final flurry.
Ireland beat Australia 19-17 and will face Japan at 5.15pm on Sunday 13 August.
